Audio Engineering & Music Production

One day I would love to see myself in a studio (that I preferably own) with other people working on music that I love. But how do I get there? What types of steps do I need to take to reach my goals and my dreams of being a professional producer? An obvious answer to me would be to stay as consistent as possible with writing my own music or being involved in the works of other people's music in any possible way to gain experience and to strengthen my portfolio. Because at the end of the day, that is what truly counts for producers, and engineers alike.
